ePolicyInPractice

The main objective of this project is to improve the digital infrastructure and the pedagogical competencies at Dhaka University in Bangladesh. This project is an action research project with researchers from eLearning Lab at Aalborg University and Dhaka University.

An important part of the project is to shed light on how Bangladesh’s ambitious visions for a future “Digital Bangladesh, vision 2021″ manifest themselves at the level of realisation. The current government in Bangladesh invest heavily in ICT. Hence the name of the research project – what does the e-policy mean in practice?

Dhaka University represents the pinnacle of higher education in Bangladesh, but much of its administration is still completely paper-based. It is a significant organisational challenge to replace this way of working with IT-based workflows. Such a leap will require significant development of new competencies and an overview of the complex organisation. It will result in knowledge that can help the rest of Bangladesh’s higher education to cope.

Bangladesh’s use of IT is still in its cradle. Using ICT for teaching requires a new set of competencies and complementing ways of teaching. The project will nurture the motivations to use digital ways of teaching and learning at the university, and support its development in various ways.

The project manager and contact person at eLearning Lab, Aalborg University is Pär-Ola Zander.

Sikder Monoare Murshed leads the project at Dhaka University.

The project is currently at an early pilot stage.
