New Collaboration between Asian University for Women at e-Lab and Asia Center
University of Aalborg has stated that Asia is one of its top-priorities in the future regarding research, sharing of knowledge and the establishing of new networks and collaborations.
Now, the Asian University for Women at e-Learning Lab and the Asia Center has agreed to start collaborative efforts and hopefully strengthen both researchers and students with special interest in Asian culture, economics and politics.
We intend to organize seminars, digital networks etc. and we start with a two-day research conference on November 26th and 27th: Perspectives on IT, ICT and Mobile Communication as empovering Tools in Asia.
In order to welcome the two new PhD students from the Asia University for Women at e-Lab, we have invited MEP Lone Dybkjær, professor and new dean Lone Dirckinck-Holmfeld, Kathrine Lilleør and professor Ramjee Prasad among others to discuss how the Asian politics, ideology and culture are affected and can be changed by the development of ICT and Tele communication.
New PhD Students at e-Learning Lab
In September, e-Learning Lab will welcome two new PhD-students from the Asian University for Women: Farzana Akther and Janani Thevananth. Both women recieved PhD scholarships supported by Det Obelske Familiefond and they will officially start at e-Learning Lab on September 1st.
Farzana Akther is 36 years old and earned a Bsc. in Physics from Eden College, the national university of Bangladesh and her Msc. from University of Kelaniya. Furthermore, she has 8 years of working experience in the IT-industry as a software engineer. Akther’s PhD-project will evole around ICT tools for semi-illiterate or illiterate people in developing countries.
Janani Thevananth, also 36 years old, earned her Bsc. and Msc. in Computer Science from The University of Jaffna, where she currently teaches. Her PhD-project is entitled An analysis of enhancing the quality and accessibility of higher education through the use of ICT.
